So I got this new toy to help me train for this marathon that i've decided to sign up for. Here's a picture of my new workout buddy.
I'm also going to be doing the 5k run at Big Sur. I've been working on the layout for my marathon workout blog/webpage. I hope to also write a plugin for movable type or write my own PHP web application, that takes the XML file output from this workout device and somehow uses it in the blog/webpage. My hopes are to effectively track my workouts as well as how I felt during the workout, what I ate that day etc. I've never done a marathon before, honestly I've never really liked running all that much. Except when playing basketball. I think the longest run i've ever done is something like 8 miles. But in three months i'm going to have to somehow complete 26.2 miles, in at least 7 hours. The "at least 7 hours" situation is because at this marathon if you don't make the 12.7 mile mark within 4 hours of the start time, you get diverted down this 3 mile road to the finish line. I figure if I can somehow finish with a time similar to Puff Daddy's time of 04:14:54. I think if that guy can do it, why can't I? Unfortunately I'm not doing it for the kids, but I'm doing it for myself.
