The Passion of society.

Tuesday, March 02, 2004 02:35 PM

I think this movie was way over the top. There is no need for it's violent, graphic nature. Unfortunately it seems that in order to even put a dent into this jacked up society we need to portray events from the past with violence, gore, and that "shock and awe." I also have a theory that the catholic church was behind this film. Think about the current events with the catholic church, it's such a coincidence that they needed this kind of "pick me up," at this point in time. Nothing like keeping the masses in check! I hate religion, and the rituals and so called "fellowship" that comes with it. My experiences with it are quite annoying. Why do I need to goto church, and hear some fool that probably drives a better car than me re-interpret some scripture out of a book that has been translated a million times? But remember to help thy neighboor, and please don't forget to put some money into that dish! The pastor needs to make his car payment too! Call me crazy! But come on.

Usual Response:
"That's why you have to have faith."- Anonymous Evangelist/Jesus Freak
I have faith, I know that everytime I get into my car that it will start! Why put more error into the already possibly flawed system of christianity, with more interpretations of things by man. I mean sure we should help eachother get educated about religion if people are willing and truly making that choice for themselves. Then comes the topic of evangelism. Those so called holy rollers. Seriously where do they get off? I think they turn more people away from the Lord than bringing them to it. I hate evangelism, why push your beliefs on others? Is that really fair? Why not through your personal actions just be the way you are? And through your actions you can show them the way? Sure you got that one person to suppositely say yes I believe! If I held a gun to your head and told you to give me your wallet, then dance around like william hung would you? Honestly I hope there was at least enough good to balance the negative that came out of this movie. I'm sure there was some honest good done. Perhaps I'm just a perfectionist looking for just the good and none of the bad? Draw your own conclusion.
