Beware of the Borg

Wednesday, April 28, 2004 05:46 PM

I swear "the Borg" they are out there. All of them with their en-bodied underpants gnomes anxiously awaiting for a chance to come out of orbit and snatch their all so important underpants. Why are people so anal? I don't get it. My best bet on figuring this one out is that something happened in that individuals (anal person/member of the collective) life where they were inadvertently "burned," for something they didn't do. So then they become this "rule making whore" where everything must be documented, all "t's crossed" and "i's dotted." All I have to say to that is, go down to height and ashbury, go into one of those "rasta-man" shops, buy a bong, then while you're walking back to your expensive luxury japanese SUV, you'll probably be stopped by some punk ass kid asking you if you want some "weed", then just say yes, then go home and get high. Then come into work the next day and be happy, and don't burden us with those jacked up rules. There are already so many unwritten rules, why write more? I don't get it. All of this management and structure, what a load. I surely hope one day I'm not a manager, I would honestly just hate it. You can't make everyone happy, and you can't absolutely make everyone like you. What a shitty position, it's like being that one kid in school everyone bombed on accept, some people will like you cause you have power, a small handful will be against you, then the rest would just shut up and nod their head. How did all of this great education and knowledge leave their head? I have not a clue. But I bet it has something to do with their pictures of their kids, and their all so nice and brand new SUV's. My payback for the day is when I hear my co-worker that sits in the cube next me, raise his voice at his wife over the phone! That guy gets a phone call (status report / daily bitching) from his wife about twice a day. Man how can people settle like this? Sooner or later I'm going to figure out a way of being untethered from this crap we're duped into believing is freedom. We're all drones, as much as I'd like to believe that I have a free mind sooner or later the government or the people you work for will own it, if not restrict you to operate within certain parameters.
