I caught some of the proceedings leading up to the Pope's Funeral early this morning. My roommate showed me this website, of some guy's pretty good quality photos, essentially his photo archive from being there.

More Death
Thursday, March 31, 2005 04:50 PM
Crazy, hours after I posted my last blog Terri Schiavo died. Then I found out that the Pope was given his last rites. From a certain perspective on so many different levels this is kind of scary.
Be Yourself

Life gets ultra stressful at times. It sometimes feels like all four walls are like crashing in on you. Actually I'd say it's really close to that one scene in Star Wars Episode 4, where Luke, Han and Chewie tried to save Leia, but then they jump into that trash compactor thing. Somehow two of the walls start moving towards the center of the compactor. When I first saw that when I was 3 years old I really thought they were gonna get squished. That's pretty much how I've been feeling. I guess that's a normal feeling. On an entirely different note. Is it just me, or does this whole Terri Schiavo thing really give everyone else the creeps? I try not to follow the media, but there's some really interesting pseudo media facts. Like how dying of dehydration, and starvation is painless? If that were true why were former presidents Clinton and Bush fund raising for tsunami victims? And why did the United States give money we absolutely don't have to Indonesia for Tsunami relief? There's something wrong when on the international front we have to put on this ultra imperialistic stance and kinda look good when it's in our(ahem...politicians...) best interest, of course all of the politians are going to throw their hats in on everything other than the domestic front. Oh but when it comes time to take a stance on the domestic front what happens? Where's all of these politians now? Where's Hillary? Why hasn't she stood up for Schiavo? And pushed congress to act quickly? The Pope has gone on a feeding tube, for Christ sakes! It's sad cause Schiavo's flippin' kidneys are already failing. So if we do get our heads out of our asses it's too late. I dunno, there's soo much that has happened the past 4 years it kind of gets me thinking Revelation you know in that relgious text everyone cites?
GI Joe
Tuesday, March 29, 2005 03:15 PM
Drew found this cool ass auction on ebay for a "Lot" of 5000+ vintage 1980's GI Joe toys. Pretty awesome if you ask me.
For those of you in this generation while growing up. I'm sure most of you remember how the price tags for Toy's R' Us used to look...well look at the picture above, isn't that a trip? Drew and I both agree that this particular character is still hott, even with her mysterious, "swivel-arm battle grip."Update:Found some more cool so-called vintage toys, and a close up of that Toy's R' Us price tag! I remember the "cool" factor of the Decepticon toys. I had both the gun and cassette recorder. I remember thinking that the cassette recorder really played music.Silence

Everything has been busy. Unfortunately I am alive, and have still not confirmed the existence of an almighty. I doubt I could blog from the beyond anyways.
While I was sleeping

While I was sleeping, this was released on Forbes. How I found out was by using Google, it said it was posted 2 hours ago, or 8 a.m. PST.
Mourning
Monday, March 21, 2005 10:55 AM
I met a kind gentlemen named Paco, while jumping in head first to the Mono Project. He is very kind, and I started to follow his blog. I saw a post where he mentioned that he had talked to his son via telephone, and how he is stationed in iraq. Yesterday, I found out that his son was killed on a patrol operation.
Busy, Busy
Monday, March 21, 2005 10:26 AM
I got some cool photos of an allergy test I took. I'll be putting those up soon. Life has been far too busy. I'm working on a preview release of Saturn. It should pretty much be nailed out, and good to go for a Monday, March 28th 2005 release date..
Organize
Tuesday, March 15, 2005 01:12 PM
I found the coolest browser based application today. I've been in search of a web based "Todo" list . The things I've been looking for were RSS aggregation, and some kind of web service like interface. So far 1 for 2 ain't half bad! It's called "Ta-da Lists." You can get an account here. Another cool thing is that you can make your lists public or private, and you could share lists with other friends/co-workers. It's simple, and so far it works for me!
And of course a screenshot...
The interface seems well thought out and simplistic! Now I can get rid of this blasted yellow tablet, and pen I haul around!
My publically shared "Ta-da List" here.
Below is my aggregated "Ta-da List."
parse(False);$channel->ReturnDiv(False, "newstitle", "news");?>
Ubuntu Finally
Tuesday, March 15, 2005 06:06 AM
Wow, I've finally moved away from my beloved Slackware (read: Linux distribution)! I got tired of compiling everything from source, but unfortunately with Mono SVN stuff I'm still stuck doing just that. Got everything nailed out, without any work at all I had my tv and sound cards working! That's a huge step in the right direction for any Linux distribution that is geared for the desktop. Ubuntu is a distribution that is essentially Debian under the hood, but is presented as a distribution for desktop users (read: joe blow or chao internet surfer).Of course a few screenshots....
Observation
Tuesday, March 15, 2005 01:31 AM
I was at a restaurant and noticed a group of people. Not very ethnically diverse at all. It was all Asians, and a token white male. Socially you could tell how the white male was being excluded from the group. I wonder if he was a boyfriend of one of the females, I didn't observe him being compassionate to any of the females in the group, so i'm going to lean towards no. Perhaps they were a group of friends? I wonder if the white male knew how awkward the situation seemed. Somethings just don't sit right sometimes when I observe group social behavior like that. Granted I'm on the outside looking in, it's still a unique situation.
Morning
Monday, March 14, 2005 04:57 AM
Well I'm awake, alive, and stressed out. Been up all night working on checking in some code. It's been piling up on me, but now I've pretty much nailed everything out. The hard part is to merge back in with the repository.
Service Interruption
Sunday, March 13, 2005 10:30 PM
So I log in this afternoon to find that one of our servers was somewhat hacked using an apache exploit. This is what a bunch of our websites on one of the servers was directed to....
To whoever did this, you could've simply asked for an account, on our servers we would've given it to you. We support free speech. Hell we blog don't we? Honestly, I think something like hacking our servers is a terrorist act, and well it's quite a contradiction to be doing that and trying to express your message! Why not do it the right way?So my message to all of my readers that have been anxiously waiting for more blogs, well there's more to come, but first I have to back my stuff off these servers while we reconfigure so that an apache exploit is less probable.Adu -hs on my home directory resulted in 4.5G . What a pain to back up all of that data, and then have to bring it all back!
MonoDevelop
Sunday, March 13, 2005 03:04 AM
Wow, in the short time (read: greater than 6 months) I've been messing around with monodevelop, I've seen it grow up from a wanna be Visual Studio into a quickly maturing piece of usable software which actually does work as a Development Environment! It gives me hope, and courage to keep pushing and move on with my ideas for my project.

Burn out?
Wednesday, March 09, 2005 11:19 PM
I think what i'm feeling is the brink of burn out. Saturn is comming along very very nicely. But for some reason yesterday and today, I've been really just wanting to not do much of anything. It could have to do with the fact that yesterday and today were REALLY long days at work. Anyways I'm alive, and well. Just not really having much time lately to post!!
Been awhile.
Thursday, March 03, 2005 05:58 AM
Been a few days since i've posted. Work has been ultra hectic. So is my personal life. I think i've finally figured out how I want Saturn's main entry window to look like. The worst thing about all of the thin clients that exist is that none of them attempt to stay simplistic. I'm making an active _ATTEMPT_ at not over designing the interface. I really want to stay away from Tabbed Panes, too.The next step in the project is to develop a gui layer for all of the xml-rpc calls, and thread them. I dont' know if should go with one of those cool knight rider looking status bar things, or just a simple rectangular pane that says that Saturn is thinking and that your entry is being published? No idea. For all of the lag that I think exists everything is comming along, very nicely. I'm sure there will be more tweaking soon enough, and the interface will change slightly, but for the most part I like it.
