Wow, I've finally moved away from my beloved Slackware (read: Linux distribution)! I got tired of compiling everything from source, but unfortunately with Mono SVN stuff I'm still stuck doing just that. Got everything nailed out, without any work at all I had my tv and sound cards working! That's a huge step in the right direction for any Linux distribution that is geared for the desktop. Ubuntu is a distribution that is essentially Debian under the hood, but is presented as a distribution for desktop users (read: joe blow or chao internet surfer).Of course a few screenshots....
I'm running "hoary" which is the preview for their next release. It gives me everything I want even Gnome 2.10.
Gnome has grown up so much! By default Ubuntu doesn't have any icons on the desktop, notice the trash can applet at the lower right corner, that's so you can access your trash can folder.
