More Features

Thursday, September 29, 2005 05:46 AM

Some features that would be useful, that I've suddenly thought of.....1. Realtime Rendered HTML Preview Support.2. A way for the Rich Edit view to display the <blockquote> markup as a real blockquote.3. Hello... Hyperlinks!!!4. Spellchecking of course...

From the "Little Room" post.
Some bugs that need to be fixed....Bug #1Somehow the state of the toolbar is completely jacked up. It doesn't seem to be keeping track of which part of the textview is markedup (i.e. italic, bold, or strike) or not. Definitely need to get this right.Bug #2A way of selecting which of the categories that are selected is the "Primary Category."Bug #3Definitely have to get some delegate love worked into this thing, of course everything is freezing right on up when I send off a post, and startup the app. I definitely don't want to be like Drivel and it's sucky ass re-getting your categories and blog information. That should all be happening when the user doesn't know it.

Condi Cartoon!

Tuesday, September 27, 2005 12:07 PM

Warning ...Very very very very offensive content to some. If you don't have an open mind, I know it's hard when you see things like this, so I understand and go away. I know that most people won't go there, but I am. This is my right, just like Cindy can go around spouting off lies and contradictions in public, I can express these thoughts. The Gainesville Sun is reporting about that the University of Florida, has recently taken a lot of heat due to a cartoon that's been published in it's paper, about Condi and Kayne. Now wait a second. Didn't Bill Cosby shed light to this horrific kind of situation months ago at the 50th Anniversary commemoration of the Brown vs Topeka Board of Education Supreme Court Decision?Well, well, look who's in the background. The infamous Rev. Jesse Jackson!!

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.Bill Cosby from Wikipedia
I could directly quote Mr. Cosby's comments, but I think it would be taken out of proportion. I do think that Mr. Cosby would take a bat to Kanye's head. And here's the worse of all, other groups are stealing a page from this corrupt playbook.Look at MEChA....nothing disgusted me more than that organization, it's ideals, and messages to these young minds in college. What a lobotomy!! Then we wonder where all of this bad mouthing of our government comes from? It's coming from our places of supposite "higher learning/education." I just think students for the most part are getting high on something and it's not education. And while I'm on this rant, Where are the Reverands? Why aren't they swooping in like they normally do?DO YOU REMEMBER???The Rev. Al Sharpton not to long ago kneeling with embrace with good ol' Cindy Sheehan?I wonder if Al was kneeling and embracing, when the camera's weren't turned on. Think the whole Sheehan/Crawford, Tx. fiasco fizzled out two days later.Remember when the Rev. Jesse Jackson came to save Terri Shavio? She died a week later.Where are these so called Rev.'s???? How come they aren't reacting about this offense to Condi and Kanye???

Decisions, Decisions...

Friday, September 23, 2005 04:07 AM

I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?" And whenever the answer has been "No" for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.Steve Jobs
This quote echos in my head. If God does exist, I think he/she/it has an extremely insane sense of humor. I was reading this article, as I was scrolling down the page to skip an ad in the middle of the article. I decided to actually read it. At first glance it looked like some kind of "workout ad." I thought, "These are always fun." So I proceed to read the ad has a picture with this guy doing a bicep curl, and a little text bubble coming out of his mouth, "I've tried over-the-counter creams and herbal remedies,"... Then there is an extension of the bubble, "but these red bumps keep coming back." Right away I went from, "oh this is a workout ad," to "Holy Shit, this isn't a workout ad." Then below the "extended text bubble," I saw "It could be Genital Herpes." There's that sense of humor. See I could have Genital Herpes, Thank God! Check out the ad below.

More Bad Sleeping Habits

Wednesday, September 21, 2005 02:49 AM

I can't believe how awesome the Ubuntu Linux Distribution has gotten in such a short period of time. I think the sexiest part of Breezy by far is when you come back from unlocking the screensaver and the screen fades from black back into your desktop!!! I just noticed that! It's _JUST_ awesome. Finally someone is using their head, this is exactly what desktop users love!Hours of sleep within the past 48 hours: 3 hours!!!For the most part I've laid out the core and I'm happy with it. The user interface has for the most part been hashed out, now it's just making the code clean and plugging everything together. There are still some really huge chunks to be figured out. Like spell checking!!! That's huge! And I'm VERY tired of mispellings I miss, and having to go to dictionary.com, or webster.com serially for each mispelling is REALLY time consuming.

Bad Sleeping Habits!

Tuesday, September 20, 2005 03:20 AM

"The dictionary is the only place that success comes before work. Hard work is the price we must pay for success. I think you can accomplish anything if you're willing to pay the price."Vince Lombardi
So again, I cannot sleep. I'm not surprised. More dissapointed, for the lack of will power. It's hard, and the last couple of days haven't been the easiest. If anyone out there believes in a higher being (i.e. God, Jesus, the Virgin Mary, some kind of all knowing alien...etc.), they should pray for me. I know I am. I've been praying for clarity. I don't like to speak or write about my relgious beliefs/experiences, please respect that. Today for some weird reason I have, but enough of that. I've been hard at work, which I hope in a couple of days (by the 24th of this month I hope) all of you faithful readers (yes, all 2 or 3 of you), hopefully will see some screenshots of what I've been working on., that is of course I haven't bombarded you with questions about what I've been doing and showing screenshots already!! Till then here are some great quotes that will hopefully inspire us all.My favorite quote by Pablo Picasso is, "Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working."Even better is Benjamin Franklin with, "I am a strong believer in luck and I find the harder I work the more I have of it."
If I am anything, which I highly doubt, I have made myself so by hard work.Isaac Newton
UPDATE:My housemate has read this entry and immediately informed me of this great quote...
Viking Handbook Rule #54: Always pillage BEFORE you burn.

Fuel Cell Mp3 Player

Saturday, September 17, 2005 03:55 AM

Awesome a fuel Mp3 Player by Toshiba. It's only in prototype stage right now. But this is SO awesome. I can just see Apple fitting the newer iPod's with these things! Here's the article that I read. The fuel cell is powered by Methanol, and it will power the unit for 60 hours in a 3.5 ml tank that "holds" for 35 hours. I don't understand that 35 hour figure.

Interesting Story and Quote

Thursday, September 15, 2005 12:07 AM

This student was acting out, and expecting the teacher to constantly cut him slack, even though he wasn't doing the work. And she told him, "You think you are so special because you are talented. Let me tell you, I see talent thrown away everyday. Talent only counts when you are doing something with it."
I think this is VERY true.

Go Steve Go!

Wednesday, September 14, 2005 02:53 AM

Time Magazine has written an article on Steve Jobs, and the story behind the creation/existance of the iPod nano. I like how they depict the crowd at mascony center for the announcement. Especially how Kanye West had a tough time during his performance getting any reaction out of the crowd. This is all true and you can see for yourself because the entire meeting is on the apple website in the H.264 video format.

Watch Me Change

Tuesday, September 13, 2005 02:27 PM

So when I was at the gym on the Precor and reading the San Francisco Cronicle, business section of course. I found out about Gap's new advertising campaign, using the internet, and a flashed based model that you can dress up and make change! So i finally remembered about it today and decided to give it a shot. The url is http://www.watchmechange.com. Check out the screenshot below.

More Reading

Thursday, September 08, 2005 04:43 AM

Picked up this book entitled "SLY Moves." It's a quick and easy read. Definitely inspirational to say the least. What got me to pick up this particular book was an excerpt from the book that I read in Men's Health while at the gym. I got hooked, cause it seemed like there would be some great information in this book. So far, there is. Should also help with some better weight training ideas too.

I actually decided to read yet another book on Steve Jobs, entitled "iCon." This should be good reading. This book was banned from all Apple Stores. So I'm wondering how badly they bashed good ol' Steve.

Jewerly?

Wednesday, September 07, 2005 10:59 AM

Found this cool website that sells jewerly made entirely out of electronic components. Yes!!! Can you believe it, resistors, transistors, WIRE???!!!! The prices are pretty expensive too!I remember using a N2222 in college! This is the only thing I'd ponder buying.Damn I can't believe how much this costs.

A Moving Story

Monday, September 05, 2005 09:55 PM

My housemate found this really moving story about a group of 6 kids headed by a 6 year old. I know this is one sided, but I don't know if this story would have ended this way if this were to have happened in another country.UPDATE:Please remember to donate to the American Red Cross. They need all of the help they can get!!

Reality Bites

Saturday, September 03, 2005 05:01 PM

WARNINGViva La Baam....just kidding. On a serious note these pictures are graphic in nature, so is my stance on this whole situation. So now that I've done my "due diligence." Take that vibrator out, sit down, give the finger to that micro-managing "Lumburg"-like asshole of a boss, or better yet just quit and read this. Okay, you really shouldn't have to quit, but hey it's America. We have people in this country thinking we're in another vietnam. So who knows. And while you're viewing this try to remember what that Cindy Shehaan woman looked like. Holy shit she's even in Wikipedia? I think her 15 minutes of fame is officially over. There's this one phrase/quote from my all time favorite movie, "Fight Club." It's when Tyler Durden said, "This is your life and it's ending one minute at a time." This rings in my head, when something I observe or experience happens. So the United States media outlets have decided to once again blind us from the reality of the situation in New Orleans. This doesn't surprise me. What really surprises me is how "We the People" don't realize this and it's only when a catastrophic event occurs that we all get together and say enough is enough. Otherwise we're all content, as Tyler would say, "Fuck off with your sofa units and serene green stripe patterns, I say never be complete, I say stop being perfect, I say let... lets evolve, let the chips fall where they may." Enough rant, since we're visually oriented Media drones. And of course thank you orgish.com for allowing access to this content. Now that you've been shocked. THINK. After I viewed these pictures I thought, what am I seeing? Does this make sense? Honestly you can ask a million questions about the validity of these photos. Do you ask these same kind of questions, when you hear something coming out of a politicians, news reporter, or any sources mouth? JUST THINK. That's it.

Only after disaster can we be resurrected.Tyler Durden
And now for the cool techie kind of stuff. It seems Google Maps has put up a cool feature for the New Orleans area when you use their Maps web application. DigitalGlobe has some high resolution satellite maps too.
