Macworld 2007

Tuesday, January 16, 2007 01:28 AM

For those of you who didn't know, I finally arrived in San Francisco, Mascone Center on Friday. It was very much like last year's MacWorld. When playing with Apple TV, I completely forgot to snap some photos of the device. I found it to be really cool, but not a "must have." I believe for the Apple TV to be a "must have" they should either add functionality to iTunes to rip DVD's that people own (much like they've done with music CD ripping). Or they should have a DVD slot on the device where consumers could watch their DVDs (maybe even blue-ray and/or hd-dvd format discs?) through the device. I don't really see a need to get that device, because I don't buy tv shows via iTunes, and I'm sure a bunch of people in this niche market have a Tivo, so what gives?I did get some pictures of this "must have" device......

This had to have been the funniest tech moment I've ever witnessed. It's how I would envision people lining up to gaze at a rare piece of art or some kind of religious artifact. What immediately popped into my head was the scene from the movie 2001: Space Odyssey, where the monkeys were all looking at the obelisk, some of them banging on it. I was waiting for one of the monkeys to grab a bone and use it as a weapon to take out the guard-like Apple Employee, while another monkey went straight for the iPhone.
